RANGE SAFETY RULES
  1. When two (2) or more persons are using the range in non-organized shooting, such as practice or plinking, one person must assume charge of the range. The first person to arrive at the range will assume range officer duty unless otherwise determined by mutual consent and that person will see that all safety rules are followed.
  2. All persons on the range will fire, make the line safe, or move forward only on the command of the range officer.
  3. Before anyone moves forward of the firing line, all firearms on the firing line must be laid on the table, muzzle pointed down range, slides open, magazines out, cylinders open and empty. THE RANGE OFFICER MUST VISUALLY CHECK EACH FIREARM ON THE LINE before calling the line safe and giving the command to move forward to change targets.
  4. When shooters are forward of the firing line, all other shooters and spectators must stay behind the safety line, clear of the firing line bench. NO HANDLING OF FIREARMS IS PERMITTED AT THIS TIME.
  5. Firearms may be uncased in the lounge, away from the firing line, for scheduled training events only. Training will be conducted by club appointed individuals to include NRA Certified instructors and range safety officers. Informal training will be conducted in the club office by range safety officers or instructors. No live ammunition will be permitted in the office or lounge and all dummy cartridges must be readily distinguishable from live ammunition.
  6. Post only one paper target per backer in each firing lane, at eye level or at the same level as the muzzle. DO NOT POST MULTIPLE TARGETS ON A BACKER.
  7. Members are to shoot from the firing line only and targets are to be set only at the target line. No shooter is to stand in front of the firing line, (except for Law Enforcement personnel for the purposes of law enforcement related practice, training, qualification and when required by an organized match course of fire. Department members are not permitted to shoot from in front of the firing line at times other than the above mentioned.) No intermediate target holders are permitted, unless approved and supervised by the club's Executive Officer.
  8. Club officers have the authority to rule "off the firing line" any person who is not observing safe firing line practices, or any firearm, which in their opinion is not safe to fire. Objections may only be addressed to the club officers at the monthly meeting.

Repeated or deliberate violation of these safety rules can result in dismissal from the club.
